The kinds of Copilot, in plain words
- Copilot Chat is included with Microsoft 365 business plans. It drafts, summarizes and answers from the web and from files you give it. It doesn’t search your company’s files on its own, except your own mailbox in Outlook.
- Copilot Business is the paid seat for businesses with up to 300 people: $21 per person a month on a yearly plan, or $18 for the first year with Microsoft’s current offer. It adds Copilot in Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, working from your own email, meetings and files, and agents built on your files at no extra cost.
- Copilot Studio agents that talk to customers or work on their own are billed in Copilot Credits, on top of any seat.
- Power Automate flows handle the steps that don’t need AI, and the everyday ones are included with Microsoft 365.
- Microsoft 365 Premium is the personal plan that replaced Copilot Pro. It isn’t a business seat.
